We found my grandfather, Michael Kurek. He is buried in Dayton, Ohio at the vet. Cemetery. 

I have confirmed that John Thompson, my GGGrandfather was in the 30th WIS Company H. Company H was one of the companies that helped build Fort Rice. He may have even taken part in a rescue of settlers from the Sioux. Stay tuned!
